I'm considering a 1985 Hunter 33 (77-83) ==> Any suggestions, opinions, and especially experience you may be willing to share would be sincerely appreciated. The boat looks a bit less beamy than I'd prefer (might be a bit cranky, and inclined to roll a bit?), but since it's only 2 of us, sailing in warm waters with a lot of islands and main to stretch land legs on, we feel positive. Have sailed a considerable amount. Born in Brasil and lived many years in Belize/Glover's Reef. The boat is in sound shape. thx again Bob

A great Boat

The 33 is a great boat! I have lived on my 82 model 33 for the last 10 years and love it. The beam is a bit more narrow than other boats of the same size but you will out point them every time. The boat is fast and stable your going to love her.

Good boat

We've got a '78, sails well, built well, and is roomy enough for two... I don't find the lack of beam a real problem but I suppose that's a matter of preference. As long as the boat has been well maintained and gotten the requisite systems upgrades over the years, I think they are a heck of a bargain. Hunters are oft-maligned here and elsewhere, and maybe the newer boats have issues, but my firsthand experience with the Cherubini designed 33 is that it's well-designed (for the era) and built like a rock. You can use the current poor reputation to get a great deal on these excellent older boats.
