Hello,

I have a Nexus Classic server on my boat and I would like to connect a WiFi Bridge I purchased the WiFi bridge connections are:

NMEA IN+
NMEA IN-
NMEA OUT-
NMEA OUT+
Question I have if anybody has connecting that format to a nexus server. This is my box:

I have tried wiring it assuming that the returns were the (-) that did not work. I’m wondering if it’s an RS232 vs RS422 thing and I need a bridge and if so how would I even wire that. I apologize if this has been asked before.

Did you realize that IN on the server needs to get the OUT from the WiFi and same the other way?

Senang, I am aware. So in doing some digging it would appear that it is a single ended connection (rs232). It looks as though I need to jumper pin 10 with pin 12. Then the output and input then become single ended.

I just ordered a converter between rs232 and 442. In the interim I’m going to jumper it then connect the (pin 11-out) on the gateway NMEA IN+ and (pin12-ground) to NMEA IN-. In researching this I have found numerous write-ups that say you can make them communicate this way. Alternative I may use my old chart plotter (garmin 540) and see if that will connect.

I am not aware if I can post a link to another nautical website, but in this link you have some usefull information about NMEA0183 and RS422 networks.
