Connecting a LinkPro

There are (2) 1 amp fused connections going to the positives posts of both battery banks. Does anyone see a problem it they were attached to the back of the switch instead? Both runs to the switch are about 6'.

You want the fuse as close to the battery's positive post as possible. If you were to get a short in the wire itself... say someone dropped a knife and cut the insulation... if the fuse is at the switch... it won't see the short and the wire will heat up and possibly cause a fire. Not exactly what you want to happen...

Thanks Sailingdog,

I decided to do it like it's pictured. Xantrex is'nt to wordy in their instructions. Actually, they're on the poor side as manuals go. I'm going to town on my upgrade but realized I need to buy some 20 awg red. Got all kinds of wire and tools but it always seems like I'm missing something. I ended up buying those crimpers you recomended. Should see them Monday.

Have you launched yet?

Yup... been in the water two weeks this monday. :) Should have the mast stepped this weekend and the sails bent on... Got some electrical work to do, mainly with the solar panel setup. If you need wire, Sailorsolutions.com or genuinedealz.com are two good sources...

I hope to see you around on the bay sometime. :) When do you launch your boat?

If you need wire go to Boater's World "Going Out of Business Sale". It's now 70-80% off bulk wire. Prices are equal to or better than anything online and you walk out the door with it. I just got an almost whole 250' spool of 12AWG yellow Anchor for 24 bucks. Picking are getting slim. I lucked out with the timing of my electrical/battery upgrade.

I bought a spool of 12 ga duplex. I haven't seen the need for wire any smaller than 12 ga on the boat. What can that quantity of 20 ga be useful for?

All the wiring coming out the back of the LinkPro Battery monitor are tiny. It requires a 24AWG minimum and judging from the set screws size I don't think an 18AWG would fit. I removed the voltmeter and three way switch from the DP and cut a hole to fit the monitor. Looks good mounted in the DP.

I got it. I had purchased the multiple twisted wire bundle when we bought our Link 2000. Now I understand.

Bob, we crossed to the "other side" from our C30 #5909 and got a B361. In the process of installing the linkpro. NO WIRES!!! What size did you go with, did you use the same gauge for everything? I'm fairly handy but am wondering if I should bite the bullet and have someone do the wirings.
Thanks for any help.
