I have a 2005 Hunter 25. I didn't think it was going to be too difficult to install a small fan until I opened the 12 VDC panel. I have probed with a meter and could not find 12 volts anywhere, except from the battery. I would like to connect the fan to one of my accessory switches. Other than connecting directly to the battery with an inline fuse, can someone give me some help? Thanks, Barry

Use cabin lights

You can mount the fan near a cabin light and wire it to the light. Breaker switch on panel for interior lights works for fan also and the light and fan each have their own on-off switch.

12v Distribution Panel

Barry, If you want to wire into the distribution panel you can connect the Pos. lead to the switched side of the selected breaker or install an additional breaker. The switched side is normally the side that the switch moves towards when the switch is turned on. The Grd. wire should be connected to the negative buss behind the panel. To find 12v volts behind the panel turn on the main breaker and then probe the hot side of the breakers and find the Grd. buss. With this add-on item you should also have an appropriate in-line fuse also.

Ditto Mark's comment

I also hooked my fans to the wiring for our cabin lights. They draw very little power. It can be a nightmare to get wiring from the panel to a device so I suggest that you save yourself a lot of time & effort.

Thanks for the Fan Advice

I think connecting to the cabin lights makes sense and seems quicker. I will tackle the 12VDC distribution panel next year...maybe. Thanks for the good advice, Barry
