Congrats to Alan and Felicity! Fair winds folks.

My question concerns the forward hatch lock.
To wit: what the heck is supposed to be there?
The fitting attached to the hatch proper is a weird looking thing the
like of which I've never seen. You can just get a glimpse of it on
the K.J. Antaba page that shows the sliding screen he installed there.
My problems:
a) the hatch didn't open or close properly. It seems that the fitting
in the hatch proper was getting in the way of the hull. The fitting
(if you can call it that) attached to the hull looks like an metal L
that you would somehow 'clip' onto, but there are no moving parts and
nothing to 'clip' with. I'm sure something is missing but I have no
idaa what.
So...
Has anyone got (or can you take and post) a decent of what the thing
looks like opened and closed so I can try and figure out what I'm
looking for?
Or...
Can someone recommend a part # in a Brewer's (or whatever marine
supply catalog) that will work for this application? I tried a few
things from home depot but everything was too big and not designed
for the closing hatch application. I want to to cause the hatch
to 'snug down' when closed.

Maybe I should just replace the whole thing?

Hi Andy,

I have posted a picture I had of the hatch of VegaLyra (1060).
Go to the "Photos" section of the Yahoo AlbinVega group website
and look at item 35 (I believe). As you can see, the "L-shaped thing"
that you have is supposed to catch a screw that is attached to the
hatch proper and allows you to screw it tight. Hope this helps -
I have no idea where to find those parts...
