I am looking into purchasing a 1983 Hunter 25. I seem to be receiving conflicting specifications for the displacement of this boat. Some say 4400lbs and some say 3550 lbs. Were there two keel types offered causing the discrepancy? Are there any 1983 owners that can give me the correct information?

h25

Allthe info I have from hunter marine says that the 25 weighs 4400 lbs. They made both a fin keel, 1800lbs. with 3'11" draft and a shoal draft, 2000 lbs, with a 2'11" draft. The question is, where is the two hundred pound differential? I find it hard to believe that they changed the hull layup for the deep fin and shoal draft. Perhaps JC II could weigh in on this. 83 was a different boat!

Jim/David: I also had a H'25. Our model was the trunk cabin with the 3'11" draft. The earlier models had a slope cabin. I do not know if there was any difference in the displacement but as I remember, they had a different interior layout.

Same as 81

I would think the 83 would be the same as the 81 I have. Never heard of the 2000lb ballast for the shoal draft. I think the ballast is 1800 for both models. That would mean the weight is 4400. These weights are a design spec and vary I would think from boat to boat. Equipment is not in these weights like outboard motor and mount etc etc etc. The 3550 weight sounds like the newer models to me. You will love this boat if you buy one!
