Phil, et. al.: I'm about to buy a Cold Machine for the ice box of my 1985 Hunter 31. The only thing I can't decide on is whether to get a vertical or horizontal condenser. The literature for the Cold Machine says that the horizontal condenser is for front loading boxes, but the H31 ice box is already very small (approx. 3-4 cu ft) and I'd rather not take up too much storage space. A possible solution (at least to me) is to mount a horizontal condenser directly under the top of the ice box aft of the opening. By my measurements it will almost totally fit under the box with only about 1" sticking out into the top opening. Basic question: Will that work? Does the horizontal condenser have a door to help retain cold and the ice cube trays? None of the literature I've gotten shows a horizontal condenser, just the vertical. I'd appreciate any feedback on the type of condenser anyone has installed in their H31, especially if you have had any experience with a horizontal one. Thanks! Tim (TIDE)

Horizontal or Vertical

The only differance between the two is the door on the horizotal version and the ice trays. The horizontal unit can be installed under the counter and will work fine. The part number for the unit is PB205-134
