Condensation / water dripping from icebox

I own a 1997 383 Oceanis, with vertical spillover freezer/fridge. After a short period of use, the spray on insulation oozes water, which drips down (behind the cabinetry), also the compressor has to work overtime because of heat conduction thru the water. It appears to me that the spray on insulation was not closed cell or has broken down allowing condensation to develop, hence the water. I've cut two 6" holes in the front panel to figure out the problem and also to get towels in to dry area. Presently, the only solution I see is tear out the cabinetry that encloses the freezer and replace the insulation. Beneteau makes good cabinetry and this appears to be a major job, might need dynamite. Has anyone out there got a simpler solution? I would sure like to solve this annoying problem. Sincerely, Al Hansen

insulation

Al; Have you considered that "crazy foam" stuff that comes in aresol cans? It might be closed cell when it cures?

INSULATION

It appears that the insulation is not effective. When insulation gets wet the R value will be lost. The foam insulation in the can has a large expansion ratio and can damage the surrounding structurey pushing out against the surrounding material.

wet insulation

Hi Al - I agree with Bill; wet insulation = ineffective insulation. To do it right you have 2 options. 1) add insulation to the inside of the box. Unfortunately, you've then reduced area in box and you still have saturated foam against the hull, 2) pull cabinetry and box to replace existing insulation. I know this isn't what you want to hear... perhaps someone else with the same boat can share their experiences. Best of luck, Trevor
