Was on my boat today and it had warmed up to in the low 50's. Laying in the v-berth and on my port side about a foot forward of the porthole I noticed a single drop of water slide down the paneling. A few minutes later one more and that was it. Boat has been pretty dry lately in spite of rain as the bilge is nearly empty. Only thing topside near it was a stanchion that was dry. Any thoughts or places I should look into?

I’ve noticed a very similar phenomenon. After periods of rather heavy rain, I’ve seen a few drops of water that landed on the step to the v-birth on the port side (only). When I touched the rim of the porthole, it was slightly but obviously wet. I wondered if it was a small leak from the porthole or condensation. I optimistically concluded (read: hoped) that it was condensation, but I was never convinced. I still can't figure it out.

Thanks

Jeff, I had a similar problem when I first got my boat. Armor-All on the gasket fixed the problem. I do think it was condensation as my wife mentioned that the boat was pretty humid (you could see you breath inside the boat) and on some surfaces it seemed like you could feel dampness. I guess it is just this time of year. But, only 3 months until Spring.
