Three cheers for the Hunter 306

The Hunter 306 was my first real sailboat. What a pleasure as she taught me to sail, learn to go fast, and enjoy the security of a forgiving teacher. I'll always have fond memories of her....StarrGazer. One of these days it'll be a classic.

Cape Dory 36 Perfect For Us!

Comfortable, sails well fits our needs, just big enough. Looks great! There are some other boats that might have fit the bill but after looking at and sailing on a Cape Dory 36 we knew this was the boat for us.

Love my Mac 26X

After researching for a boat big enough to live on, for an expedition in the sub-arctic of Quebec. I settled on the MacGregor 26X, in a 2001 version. It is easily trailerable and launchable, so I could be on my own time schedule and destination of choice. After having DREAM CATCHER for a season, we found she was a very stable boat with the ballast in, and sailed well. With an 18 HP motor, she maintained controlabilty in choppy conditions without beating us up. One very happy Mac 26X owner with no regrets and looking forward to new anchorages and vistas that only a trailerable, shoal draft boat can give.

Ideal for our conditions

Our H25.5sk is ideal for our conditions and use. We're on a relatively shallow lake, usually have 10 - 15k breezes, daysail with up to three others, use the cabin for sitting around before and after, most of us are fairly tall (pop-top), outboard is easily maintained. We've done some work restoring her, but she has responded well to our care andd provided us with a great deal of pride in ownership.

Shallow Draft

My 1980 H27 shoal draft because it draws only 3'3". I get to go sailing when many others are stuck at their dock or can't get out to deeper water.

It makes me come alive

I Hadn't sailed for 20 years. I spent summers sailing with my Dad first on our aquaris 21 then cal 27 then Erickson 35 all in the beauty of Alaska. Watching my Dad die of cancer last year sparked something in me and several months after his death I began my search for the right boat even though I have not followed sailing and boats since the late 70's. Living in Colorado there isn't a whole lot of selection. I was all discouraged after loking at on boat broker because I had only so much money. I went to the "hole in the wall" place and the moment I saw my Merit 23 I loved it. I didn't even know what kind it was at the time. The price was right and I began to remember what makes me come alive. I hadn't felt these feelings in so long. So I guess it was looks first, then when I sailed it and would blow by everything on the lake I like it for how she sails. Find out what makes you come alive and go and do that, this is what the world needs, men who are alive!
