anyone have any dealing with the seating of the suppoet pole for the mast in the bilge on a 33 (77-83)? Mine seems to be blowing out the fiberglass, Its cracked and pushing out on the fiberglass. Was wondering if anyone could give me some info on repairing this problem. It does not seem to be leaking anywhere, but it concerns me for a couple of reasons, one if there is a metal plate imbeded in the floor that might be rusting or corroding and thus creating more problems, like busting thru the hull, or the pressure of the mast causing a drop, thus cracking the cabin top. any input would be greatly appreciated. Also can this be done in the water as I suspect? Thanks Bill

in water or out

Freebird, appreciate your input, very much. I suspect that the hull is sound under the post bedding so I'll leave boat in water. Have seen a few post on this site about I beams and such, do you know what the bedding is made up of? I will attempt to contact hunter marine for more info. No cracks in cabin top and no noticable dip either, but your info gives me a lot to go on, again thanks Bill

Bill,

Since I have never dug into the I beam, I'm not sure what they have put in there. I hope its not wood since that could rot. Seems like I remember them telling my rigger friend that it is bedded into epoxy. But I'm sure Hunter can tell you exactly. Good luck. David
