Please direct me to a post that deals with the cost of a compression post repair on a 1985 Catalina 30. The survey shows that the outsides are solid but the inside is soft where the wires exit. No signs of deck sagging.
Is it done on the hard or can it be done on the water?
Can it be done by the owner or should it be done by Catalina?
Its not a bad job, but is time consuming project so the yard will be $$$$$
its a bit messy and you may have to redo some wires and the coax, I think its about the same on a 30 as a 27 you enter thru the keel or cut a piece of sole out, after you jack up the area above it with a bottle jack & post and some boards over the cabin sole to spread the load and cut out the post and then cut pieces all weird shapes to build t back up with some type of water proof marine grade wood and or glass it up.
It can be done in water and with mast up. there's a few photos on this site and one guy used a screw type set up in place of he block of wood,, not my choice as wood has some flex as metal in this spot has none can you say CRACK!
Good luck,
