What model year Hunter 30 do you have? If by ”old” you mean the John Cherubini designed 1974 to 1983 Hunters, then yes, there have multiple posts about this project, both above and below the cabin sole. Do a search of previous posts and also post your question in the Cherubini Hunters section of this forum.

I'm one who has completed the job on my 1979 H30C . As Dalliance said, many of us have and posted various pitfalls, solutions and options here on SBO. If you have specific questions, ask away.

Why do you think it needs to be replaced? It's usually not the compression post but the iron I-Bar between the cp and the keel that needs replacement. However I did replace part of the cp and the I-Bar many years ago. Both involve bracing the coach roof while you dismantle and replace everything. Pics would help. Lots of info and pics about this in the archives.

One other thing. The raised deck portion where the mast sits can become infiltrated with water and start to sag. Had that issue fixed but it entails removing the mast. Look at the obvious before tearing your boat up.
