I did some re-wiring to my mast step and have a couple of questions: What is purpose of the wire that is attached to the mast step plate on top of the deck? Also, I replaced both bulkheads last year. I noticed that the compression post seems to fit just aft of where the mast step is located. Is this correct? If so, it doesn't seem like an optimal placement as it is not directly under the load.
