The base of the compession post below our mast has one 3/8" bolt. This is below the table. It appears that the bolt take the entire load of the mast. We have replaced the bolt once, and recently broke the second bolt. Any suggestions on how to stengthen this design?

compression post bolt

Vath, First I would say call Hunter. That doesnt sound normal. I have a 336 to and my take on that bolt is... it protects your compression post from "negative G forces" if you will. Meaning if your rig is out of tune and you are beating to wind and falling off the crest of some big waves, that bolt will keep your compression post from Triton forbid, getting pulled up and out of the base. I cant believe there is any way that a 3/8 inch bolt is a weight bearing part of the rig. Cheers Rick
