my wooden compression post on my 1983 C22 has developed a sizable crack along it's length .I am planning to replace it and am wondering if anyone has undertaken this project on their own or is it one that should be left to the pros. Suggestions???????

hello razorback. simple job. just remove the bolt from the mast step, remove any screws from the seat back/compression post remove the screws from the ornimental wood ring around the top of the post, find the slanted side of the post top and whack it from the low side in the direction of the high side. it should fall over. you can jack the overhead a small ammount to remove a little weight from the post if you want. john
