I have an empty and almost empty CNG tank for fuel galley fuel. Cannot find anyone to certifiy and/or even fill tanks. Lost receptacle needed to fill, but tanks are too old.

I've heard about conversion kits for LPG but can't find anything.

Any information on how I can get a new CNG tank, get it certified or whatever, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

The conversion may involve just a change in the burner jets or it may also require a change in the regulator. Go to your local propane dealer, the company that services home heating and cooking customers, and find out for certain from them.

sorry CS

it is going to involve a lot more than jets and a regulator..if you want insurance..you will need an automatic shutoff, sniffer, and a vented storage locker for your propane tanks - at least...perhaps more depending on how your current setup is installed..

best of luck...

The cng tanks can be hydro-tested at a welding supply place. They will re-stamp the tanks after passing the test and then they can be filled with cng so you wouldn't have to convert to propane.. call local natural gas company and they can probably tell ya where to get them filled.. Good Luck !!

Converting the stove will be as I said, converting the boat will be as KD3PC said.

1. http://www.c34.org/wiki/index.php?title=CNG_Refill_Adapter

2. do a search on this board for CNG

3. www.safgas.com

The tanks are usually exchanged, not refilled.

LPG is a completely different stove fuel, requiring the changeout of the burners in your stove (go to Seaward, with the # of your stove which is located inside the lid - remove the burner pot holders and lift it up). They can sell you the parts you need to make the conversion. Then you have to do what the next article link says you have to do. Read this about LPG: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...Id=11151&catalogId=10001&page=Propane-Systems

 Thanks to everyone for all of the great and informative information. Believe it or not, I have spent at least six hours trying to find the information you all found in minutes. I have just found a local company that will certifify my tanks at a minimal cost of $37 each! Now, if the local CNG filling station doesn't have an adapter, I can have one built.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU -- YOU GUYS ARE ALL GREAT. IF YOU EVER WANT TO GO SAILING IN UTAH ON STRAWBERRY BAY, LET ME KNOW -- WE HAVE GREAT WINDS AND FANTASTIC MOUNTAIN SCENERY.
