Well I finally got my mast back up after rewiring it over the winter. She went up no problem. When I got around to tuning up the rig I noticed something that has got me a little worried. The door that leads into the v-berth area has a sliding latch that holds the door shut. Before I tuned up my rig, the latch fit perfectly in the slot that is carved out of the compression post for that purpose. But after I tuned up the rig, I noticed that the slot in the compression post had moved down about 1/2" and the latch no longer fits...Has anyone else noticed something like this? I know that the compression loads placed on the post from the tight rig can be rather large, but I am worried that maybe they are too large? When I look at the compression post it does not look bowed, so the hull must be flexed down the 1/2".Maybe the rig wasn't tuned up a tight as I have it now when the slot was carved in the post and the compression from the tighter rigging has moved it down some. To tune the rig I followed the Hunter Manufacture's instructions on rig tuning. I recently purchased a wire tension gauge and will measure the tension on the rigging and post that here tomorrow. Thanks for all your help.
