Has anybody seen/tried these tanks? They are in the Chandlery. And very reasonably priced. http://shop.hunterowners.com/detail.htm?fno=0&group=723

I guess that they are a good idea

if carrying 31 pounds is substantially better than carrying 38 pounds about once every 3 to 6 months.

See what you've got

Weight is a small factor. I like the idea of being able to actually see how much propane you've got in the bottle.

I like them

They sound like a great way to go. Propane stuff is pretty carefully regulated by the gov so I would expect them to be safe and strong. My only personal concern would be getting them filled in Canada, part of my cruising ground. I like the lighter weight when cruising as it can be a pretty good walk to refill one and I like being able to see how much propane is in the tank.

Have 2 of them on our boat...They are great

light as a feather, and being able to see how much fuel is in the tank is the real advantage..

they seem to be the same size

as the standard steel tanks.
