Greetings, this is my first post here, I am a new owner of a Hunter Legend 1988 and the original owner who sold me this gem installed a Maxwell surface mount windlass aft of the anchor locker. He did not create a penetration into the anchor locker. The drop from the windlass is at the anchor locker aft bulkhead. The Bow roller ends at the anchor locker hatch. The anchor locker is sloped and is approximately 16" deep at the stern bulkhead (near the windlass) to approximately 24 inches deep at the bow. The hatch is not reinforced at this time. It appears the owner rarely used the anchor, as just in testing it out I have already worn the fiberglass where the anchor chain enters the locker. My question is has anyone worked with a similar situation? I wanted, of course to drop the anchor into the anchor locker towards the bow where it is deepest. This will require running the play-out chain and haul-in chain across the locker hatch. Realizing the hatch and drop will need protection from the chain does anyone have suggestions?
