Quote: "When someone seemingly declares war by posting what appears to be 'ultimatums', etc. to a newsgroup to gain 'sympathy or support' ... any possibility for amicable settlements is no longer a possibility"I sort of agree with that but.....While I clearly don't get the posters intent and find the post quite odd and poorly executed I have to disagree on some points you made.I owned one of the Zodiacs with the PVC problem where the floor and tubes would get sticky. At first I tried for well over a year to go through my local dealer where I purchased the product. I kept a full record of conversations, names etc.. I was polite as I'm in business and know how to handle these sorts of situations and it got me nowhere! In year two I began calling and emailing the manufacturer listing my dates times whom I had spoken to and what I was told. Another year went by with over 30 correspondences and still NO replacement or warranty resolution. Finally, out of frustration, I copied and pasted my entire two years worth of logs including, times, names, dates, what I was told etc. etc. into an email and sent it off to every employee I had had contact with at Zodiac, including the President of Zodiac US.I gave them an ultimatum threatening that within 24 hours I would take my warranty horror story and the resulting log to the following internet forums. I then proceeded to list over 40 internet forums, with links, from Scuba sites to sailing, fishing and general boating. To let them know I meant business I posted it on an obscure forum with little traffic and said I would remove it immediately upon contact with resolution.Within 24 hours I had an email from the president of Zodiac US and within 72 hours I had a brand new boat in my drive way! Zodiac and warranties are like oil & water but they DON'T want the truth out there and they WILL turn heads if you present a case that can hurt them publicly.Unfortunately the OP has not executed a good strategy..So, ultimatums can lead to amicable settlements if done properly and they are not always "no longer possible"
