Wonder what readers are using Brand/Mounting style etc. Not planning on using for navigation from A to B but more for an assist when tacking. Jibing's no problem! Prefer not drilling major holes in the hull. Mast mount? Suggestions? Thx, Joe

I'm interested too.

I'm interested as well. I added a plug in the sail track of the mast so that I could mount something below the boom. Saw that idea here on the forum, but I've as yet to use it. I also thought of mounting a compass on the port side just in front of the port jib sheet, on that flat area. I can't decide if I want an regular compass or something digital. Maybe a GPS unit? One of the wrist depth finders would be fun too. Jerry

Me too.

I have been struggling with this as well. We get a lot of fog here sometimes so I really want a compass in case I can't see the shore. I though I would be able to mount one on the mast using a post mounted in the sail slide track. So I mounted a clinometer there but found that the jib sheet would occationally wrap around it, preventing the me from tacking. This happened often enough to convince me that it was a bad idea. I would also like a compass that works to about a 30 degree heel angle as I usually sailing alone and am often heeling over. So I bought a plastismo mini c flush mount. I am hoping to mount it into the center board trunk just aft of the main sheet block but am waiting to hear from my dealer to see if thats possible. Anybody have an Idea? Brian

Digital compass

I cut a teflon cutting board to size to mount an inclinometer and digital compass to, then use bungee cord to attach to mast for easy removal when trailering. Works pretty well but the digital compass is hard to read if your wearing polarized sunglasses. Going to go back to a Ritchie compass. Besides, I like watching the compass card spin when tacking even though it will lock in place when you're heeled over.
