As part of the spring upfit I am replacing my leaking Plastimo 135 compass on my 281. The old one didn't light up, but perhaps the bulbs were burnt out. The new one has two wires coming from it that allow it to light up. My question: when I remove the old one from the pedestal will I see some wires, or are those of us with 281s destined to use a flashlight or GPS at night? I guess if I wanted to I could always run some wires from the DC circuit board and tie it into the main lights, or the GPS. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Uhm, wouldn't the easiest way to be open the pedestal and see if you have the wires?

Of course, but my boat is 250 miles away and I won't be there till Memorial Day weekend - just planning ahead. If the boats never were set up for the lighted compass, I might bring some extra wire, etc. and see if I can rig it up.
