Companionway Doors

I am in search of a source for lexan Companionway Dorrs. I have seen them on a newer 400 and would like to get rid of the old boards. I have contacted Catalina by e-mail, but no results.

On my last boat I had a local plastic manufacturer make Lexan using the old boards as a template. Cost less than $100 and looked great but a bit heavier than the boards and you have to be real careful not to scatch them.

I had doors made for my 400 by Concept Designs, Mike Powell, who does these wonderful teak doors with Lexan/screen inserts. The best of both possible worlds as you have the solid Lexan (drop in panels) when you wnat AC and screen when natural ventilation is enough. And they look great.If you use Mike tell him Norm says hello. Mike lives in the San Juans as did we has a Catalina 38 and is a really good guy. He is on the internet.
