Hi All:
The spring of the companionway door on my Hunter 45CC broke. I got the spring from HunterOwners but I do not know how to disassemble the companionway to get the door out allowing me the attach the spring. Anybody has done it?
Thanks, Viktor

First remove the metal plate on the front of the sliding hatch then cut the corner of the plate off (see my upgrade 2 picture posted in owner mods 45cc) Then cut a notch in the top of the plastic slide so the drop down door will come up. Do not take door all the way out and remove the screw holding the spring one at a time. It helps to have a second person hold the hatch up. If you do not want to notch the metal you can always just notch the top plastic guide. I have replaced many springs and found I did not want to remove metal covers all the time. I also periodically remove the spring housing and spray with silicone . Check out my other mods for upgrades I have made

How do you get the screw holding the spring in?

By carefully lifting the sliding door almost out of the frame just enough to remove the screw. Do one side at a time. A second person is needed to hold door in place while the springs are replaced. Once you have made the cuts in metal and plastic. Takes about 10 minutes to change out.

Thanks so much for your advice.
We had to lift the sliding door completely out to get to the holding screws. We could do that by turning the spring out of the housing when the door was lifted up with the bottom screw at the level of the spring housing.

Thanks again!
