I am doing repairs on a 30 foot O'Day and the companionway cover seems to be misplaced and I need a replacement.
From what I have read finding a new/used one will be nigh on impossible, so what I am looking for is someone near the panhandle (Panama City) of Florida with an O'Day 30 that I can borrow/rent their cover for a few days so I can make a mold and ultimately lay up a new one.
Can a brother lend a hand?
Fred

Clarification: Yes I am referring to the Companionway Sliding hatch and I checked with D&R and they do not carry this for the 30'.

What are you missing?
Do you mean the sliding companionway hatch? if so, they are available new from D&R Marine. If what you are seeking is a "Sea Hood", a sort-of "garage" that the main hatch slides into when open, if your boat had one it would appear that it was added by a previous owner. That wasn't offered on the O'Day 30 (like far too many other similar sized boats!). So, you may not find anyone that has one to let you use to make a mold.

D&R Marine won't be inexpensive as a source for a new hatch, but it may still be easier than molding one yourself. www.drmarine.com (508) 644-3001.

I was looking at replacing mine and it seemed to me that a piece or two of honeycomb paneling might work well. I have a large two inch thick piece that I was going to use for the salon table. Framing the edge in mahogany to match the rest of the woodwork and then laminating with an 1/8'' piece of maple plywood. I think it will look nice and will weigh only about 3-4 lbs. The same could be done for the companionway door and since it does not require as much strength as the table/bed-board it could be made a thinner. Doing it in two pieces would make it easy to store and quick to assemble vs the 5 warped and weathered boards I now have.

While we are on the subject, has anyone ever seen an Oday 30 or 31 with a seahood over the companionway? I'd like to add one for heavy weather protection; it would have to be 41" wide to fit over the companionway slides.
