Companion Way Screens

I have a Hunter 240 and wanted to add a screen to the companion way. These are available on the Sailboat Owners site.

I measured a few months ago and allowing for extra inches on the side, I need one about 44" X 55" if I do not raise the forward portion of the hatch. Has anyone tried any of the models shown. I believe that I will probably just but the screen and sew it to size but I am lazy enough to look around for a pre-made screen

I have been pondering the same question for my C22. Thanks for sharing the link to the SBO Store screens. I think for the price versus the effort these are way nicer than I could make!

My hatchway is wider than most of the off the shelf items. I also would like a professionally made screen.

I sew quite a few things for my boat. The premade ones seem like a pretty fair deal for approximately $85. Id guess with the screen, edge tape, and weights would probably cost $40 to purchase. I figure my time as worth at least $100 and hour and I couldn't measure, layout and sew together the screen in 30 minutes. Id buy the screens if there is one that fits.

I bought something similar from surplus for my Mac. I just draped it over the companionway.

I’m going to cut mine four inches over size and add weights. We will see what happens.

Same here. Mosquito net with those little plastic hand clamps to hold in place.

I did the same with mosquito netting as well, for both the companionway and a ceiling vent/window. I cut it roughly to size and stitched in a old 1/2" rope, for weight, around the perimeter to help it seal the edges a little better. Worked well up on Lake Huron when we took the boat up there.
