Help! My companion way cover does not slide easily. When we are inside and close it for the night, it is almost impossible to slide open from the cabin. Is there a good lubricant to use on the channel?

Teflon spray

You might try the kind of Teflon spray you can get for you mainsail slides. I've used that with some success. Whatever you do, don't use WD40 - it's a solvent, not a lubricant. LaDonna

slide easy

We had the same problem with our hatch. I just got a bar of soap and rubbed it along the chanell. Works great now!

A little bit of wax

I've used a little bit of cleaner wax on the slidng hatch covers of different boats. It cleans up the tracks, and makes them slick. Don't over do it though...on one boat, the hatch cover slid too easily, especially in a seaway. Randy

Teflon Strips

I don't know where I saw it, but I read about a mod where the owner added Teflon strips for the cover to slide on.
