Combi - to - Gearbox Conversion

Hello Again, All:

I am really looking for three things: [1] Information on getting rid of the
Combi drive and replacing it with a conventional drive system on my MD6A, and
[2] where best to obtain the gearbox and associated materials (shaft, prop,
control, etc.), and [3] the probable cost.

I would appreciate hearing from anybody that has accomplished this
changeover.

Thanks, Ed Davis, Mystic, CT aka saylered@...[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hi Ed

One of our members in the UK (Mike Johnson - Swedish Miss) changed his combi for a conventional gearbox. You need a Volvo MS2 gearbox that will fit on the same flange. In the UK they cost anywhere between £250 - £500 if you can find one as they are all secondhand. The work to install and fit cost him £700. The shaft and prop will cost another £250. Control cables and control lever will also have to be purchased and fitted.

The work entails some fibreglass work and engineering.

Kind Regards

Steve Birch
