Hello, All;
If anybody is replacing - or has replaced - their Combi drive system and has
no further use for their old shaft-within-a-bronze-sleeve, please contact me
and let's discuss it. My bronze sleeve is quite badly grooved and should be
replaced after this season.
Please contact me at SaylerEd@... , or call me at (860) 536-9593. I
live in Mystic, CT.

Thanks,
Ed Davis, #1868

Hi Ed, I dont have my Combi unit anymore, but experienced the same problem
probably almost 20 years ago. I had the tube turned down and Nickel plated
back to the original dimension. It never scored or grooved again. It's an
idea if you can get someone to do it.

Ed,

I too have a worn bronze sleeve sitting in my garage. I had a machine
shop fabricate a replacement from a piece of 3/4" 316SS pipe. They
turned it down to 25 mm and cut the reverse thread on the end for
about US$ 200. Another possibility might be to cut your sleeve and
weld (braze?) a new section in to replace the worn part. You're
welcome to my old sleeve if you decide to do this...

Dear Ed,
I have the bronze combi shave replaced by 316SS pipe some 15 years ago,
because during the
"bronze area" my Vega was badly leaking.
Since then its practically over, I dono say is bone dry., but within
acceptable limits.
