I own (as of Dec 2009) a 1968 C28. It seem all these boats have the same problems,
1) rusted Keel bolts.
2) leaks around the windows.
3) leaks at chain plates.
4) rot in the bulkhead on portside.
5) leak around cockpit floor.
1) These are lug bolts, and can be replaced for about $100 each...do not drop the keel and break the seal.
2) Secure leakes around chain plates and windows.
3) Raise the cockpit floor, and make a channel along both sides.(somewhat like the forward hatch.)
The 28 is a great boat, and worth getting into shape.
If you have the Atomic 4, flush it with fresh water, and install a fresh water system.(about $600.)
The 28 is not a racer, but, she will stand up in bad weather.
See you on green water
