Color matching tips?

I am going to address some dings and scratches in the gelcoat on my boat this spring and would like to hear suggestions on how people have matched the color on their boats. Recommendations on kits, techniques, supplies would be welcome too. I will be starting with some smooth surfaces and will eventually tackle a few areas on the non skid, practicing with a discarded lazerette cover that I have before doing it for real on the boat.

Or cut a 3/4" dia. plug from the surface and send it out to a gelcoat producer who does computer color matching .... the 'best' way to color match.

Thank you! That sprayer looks nearly too good to be true. Have you used it?

Yup - good for 'spot repair'.
Use a 'fine' conical paint strainer and prefilter the thinned gel; and, remove the tiny 'filter' on the suction tube of the Preval. This will allow better spray with gel.
