Coldplate Troubleshooting

My Norcold unit has what appears to be a minor problem (Is anything minor in a boat?). When the unit is turned on, it starts its compression cycle, but abruptly shuts itself off after a minute or so. If you leave the switch on, after five minutes or so, it will start compression again only to turn itself off again after a short while. Is this something as simple as a defective thermocouple or relay?

On my add on cold plate with compressor there is a small light that comes on that is located on the top of the compressor. it indicates that there is low freon. It turns the unit off, after a little while it trys to start again, runs about 30 seconds and turns off , etc, etc.
