I recently replaced the electronic module on my cold machine. I have also upgraded and replaced my VHF. I now notice a steady hum on the VHF when the cold machine is running. Does anyone know how to stop this VHF interference? Thanks in advance.

Where did you purchase the module? Wiring the unit directly to the battery is the most effective cure. Also, a large capacity capacitor wired accross the pos. and neg. terminals at the module will help. Get one rated at about 30 volts and highest rated microfarad you can find. Check with the manufacturer of the VHF about filter options.

VHF Interference

I purchased the first module from West Marine who special ordered it from Adler Barbour. That module did not operate correctly and after dealing with Gary at Adler Barbour Technical he sent me another AB-3016 that did work correctly. Apparently prior to my bad (new) module the company only did a voltage test, unloaded, prior to shipment of a new module. They now do a load test prior to shipment according to Gary. My Cold Machine is hooked up to a switch on the main panel and then direct to the electronic module. It would not be convienent to hook it directly to the battery as this would not allow shutting the unit off for maintenance or trouble shooting. Also, with a big boat (42 foot) if I had all the sensitive circuits coming off the battery then I would compromise battery security. I will locate and try a capacitor at the module and I will also check with Standard Communications on their recommendation. Thanks for the reply to my question.
