Greetings, The Coconut Grove Sailing Club needs your help. We are in negotiations for a new lease, but dealing with the city of Miami has been difficult. I'm sure many of you have visited our club, if you enjoyed yourself, please let the City know! Visiting our website has a brief history of our club and has a link of whom to contact. Please mention your visit to the Club and if you traveled, mention your "Tourist Dollars" . The city sees the mooring field as a cash cow and if we lose that, our ability to promote sailing through youth programs and regattas and other community outreach programs will surely suffer. I'm a newer member to the Club, but it is much more than a place to keep a boat. We have countered with a proposal where we install the screw-down moorings and provide the city with the revenue they would see from renting them. To lose a 58 year tradition for a few dollars and an ill concieved plan would be a shame. Thank you for your help, Marc

good idea

This club needs to be saved, hell, they taught me how to sail 30 years ago as a kid in Miami. Besides, the club survived Andrew only to be blind-sided by the city, sad. Check out some of the hurricane Andrew pics and you can see for your self how this part of Miami picked it's self back up by the boot-straps only to be knocked down by the corrupt city officials. Write the mayer, his name is Manny Diaz. mannydiaz@ci.miami.fl.us.
