Just replaced 2 cockpit speakers in our H25 with 41/2 " round speakers. The speaker cone in the starboard side(receives direct sun in slip) speaker was trashed.Would covering help?Recommendations?I've thought about interior instrument covers(backside of compass, knotmeter, etc) or even plastic bowls held by velcro.Any sugestions?

Covering helps...

anything potentially exposed to the sun for extended periods of time. The ultraviolet rays wreak havoc on just about anything, especially plastic. I have looked into replacing my cockpit speakers with those of the 'weather resistent'/marine variety, but I have not heard how well they perform (both on sound and weather resistance). Perhaps someone else that has done so can give us a review. My instruments are on my wheel pedestal under my bimini, but I still have a wheel cover over the whole pedestal... Joe s/v Charis

Speakers and plus

I think they are a little overboard with their marine stuff. I live on a large boat and whwen I look around at all the things that I have on board, very few are from a marine supply or rated marine except me. I am now buying a satillite dish that is automatic, marine 3200 RV 1800.Zincs you cant get other places

Bose

a very good friend has a pair of those expensive Bose speakers that are designed to be outdoors in the weather. His are mounted on the stern rail, without any other protection, and have been there for quite a few years. For reference, the boat is in Ventura California. Oh, and by the way, those speakers REALLY do sound good!
