Cockpit "gap" in S2 9.1 Aft Cockpit

My S2 9.1 Aft cockpit has a gap on each side - adjacent to the wheel - to allow a person to walk around the wheel.

My life partner loves to sail and loves to lay down along the bench seat on the longer sails. Unfortunately, she is nearly 6' tall and the gap prevents her from having leg support (her legs extend into the gap next to the helm).

Has anyone built a "bridge" for this gap which might have a way to fill it on a temporary basis (so she could move it to the opposite side as we tack)?

I was thinking of a Plexiglas fill in board but it would be too weak if it were thin and if it were thick enough, it would pose as a bump to her legs.

Thanks for any ideas you might have.

As an over 6 footer myself I feel for your LP. I like woodsters idea but it sounds cumbersome if she likes to be on the high side. I'd worry the cooler could interfere with steering if it slides. I would probably build something out of scrap lumber that I could tether to a cleat or pushpit. My initial thought would have legs in an upside down V hinged to fold flat but be tall enough to hold a cushion. You couldn't brace well against the forward angle of the seat with the 'leg' which is why I'd have a basic tether. I'll ponder that a bit and see if I come up with any other ideas. I'm usually at the wheel or secondary watch since my spouse is uncomfortable so I don't lie down. A sport-a-seat might be a nice gift for her. I love mine.

Edited to ask what is the height of your cockpit seats?

I don't have the height of the cockpit seat....at the moment, I'm 1400 miles from where my S2 is in storage.

Appreciate the comments/input!
