I went down to check on the boat (on it's trailer) on Friday and found two unpleasant and potentially expensive surprises.

The first one was a fairly easy initial fix - I just had to drain about 50 gallons of water out of the tarp which was sagging into the cockpit. That one may have bent a stantion a bit but I'm not sure it's not an optical illusion as the parking lot is not quite level.

The second one is probably going to be more trouble - part of the rim on the brass insert on the cockpit drain has disappeared and I now have some of the core showing. So, my question is, how do I get the insert out (will cutting it with a hacksaw let me compress it and pull it out? And, more important, what do I replace it with?

Here's what I found:

Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Catalina Direct sells those fittings. My understanding is that they were offered as replacements for folks with older C22s who had the cockpit drains in the forward end of the cockpit and down through a hose to a thru hull valve. They also use them in C25s. Until you get the replacement, slather some silicone over the bare core.

Thanks Stu,

I took a look and they do have something that looks exactly like what I need. I'll give them a call and make sure they're the same size as the factory ones.
