We have no cockpit cushions on our new Hunter. We have checked the local people and have not found anyone who does this. Hunter can provide custom fitting cushions which snap on but have no helmsman cushion for added height. Bottomsiders have custom fitting cushions that need no installation and have several helmsman cushions for extra height. We will appreciate your comments on pros and cons in order for us to make an informed decision. We are concerned with the cushions staying in place when the boat heals and convenience in getting into the locker when the cushions are on and durability. We are in the Gulf where mildew and mold is a real problem.

Bottom siders would be great for your area.
John: I would think that the bottom siders would be perfect for your area. They are vinyl coated closed cell foam. If they ever get a cut, there is a touch up kit that you can get to make a repair. We have made terry cloth covers for ours so prevent to help them stay cooler during those hot summer days. The nice thing about this arrangement is that during inclement weather, you can use the bare cushions and just wipe them down with a towel to dry them off quickly and easily. As far as the helm seat is concerned, you should not have any problem with it staying in place when you sail. The port and starboard seats are a problem. We put some of that non-skid stuff that is used under rugs to help, but that is only good until about 10-12 deg. of heel. I would think that they could do something with the bottom siders to put some nylon straps on the cushions before they apply the vinyl and then apply the straps when the cushions have cured/dried.

I purchaseed the bottom siders they will dent easily . you must be very carefull with them when storing. Do not expect the bottomsiders personel to be very helpful. They sell than forget about their past customers. Worst customer service I have come accross in Maritime sales.
