cockpit cushion(s) options?

think i have added a set of cockpit cushions to my wishlist. i looked at a set by c cushions and was shocked at the price. (345.00 for 2 cushions) west marine only has 2 fixed sizes. anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced cushions....preferably in the "usual" blue.

Upholstery shop

The previous owner of my boat had some made at an upholstery shop. He had them made with 3 inch thich foam and covered with white vinyl with piping to match the teal accents on the boat. I imagine all he did was make cardboard templates of the cockpit benches and the upholstery guy did the job. He nor I have ever had a problem with the foam getting mildew and mold. Have them made with zippers so you can take the foam out if they get wet. I'd be willing to bet they didn't cost $345 and they are a lot more comfortable than the thin closed cell foam cushions normally made for boats. Pool Floats

If you really want to make your life simple, find some of the closed cell pool floats (not the coated kind) and simply cut them to the correct size and shape. I found some that had two different colors of blue foam, one navy and one lighter color blue bonded together. The result is a set of really cheap ($20 each) cockpit cushions that are reversible so I can more closely match the color of the outfit my date is wearing. ;-) Gary

I use the pool floats....

I bought the $700 Hunter cusshions for my first boat. Not worth the money spent. THe pool floats work great. If you want to change colors its easy to fix, if they get ripped it easy to fix. I can buy a lot of pool floats for $700.

Pool floats?

Is a "pool float" the big cover that cover an entire pool to keep out leaves and dirt, or just a floating lounger like an air matress for one person?
