1978 H33 Cherubini - Want to run my main and spare main halyards from the mast back to the cockpit for ease of reefing when under manned. Anyone have types of blocks I should use from the mast base as well as on the cabin top? I plan on running new rigging when I do this. Thanks.

Could you use a mast plate at the partners( http://www.mauriprosailing.com/Merc...reen=CTGY&Store_Code=MPS&Category_Code=GARPLA )? My H37C is different because of the keel-stepped mast. I simply remove a bolt from the partners and replace with an eye bolt. I don't know how your mast step is configured. If not a mast plate or an eye bolt then you would need those spring loaded standup blocks bolted through the coach roof.

Then I have two Schaefer deck organizers, one for each side( http://schaeferhardware.com//SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=203 ). My boat has a winch and cleat on the port side. I have yet to add a winch and cleat on the starboard side. Eventually I will add double clutches to each side. In other words I can only bring four lines back, two per side.

Ed,
How do you install deck organizers without having the ends protrouding through the cabin top? Currently I have nothing showing on the cabin roof from hardware on top deck.

I think I am going to use a fiberglass plate, pre-drilled with threaded inserts, and then bond it to the roof w/epoxy or glass resin. I would need one for mounting the block and one for the cleats. Should make a pretty neat package, won't rot and if you don't drill holes in the roof it probably won't leak.

My 1980 H36 was constructed with small raised sections (about 9"x9") located on the cabin top about 3 feet aft of the mast on both the port and starboard sides. The deck organizers are mounted on these. Below the 1/4" fiberglass skin is an aluminum plate. Holes for the deck organizer are drilled and tapped for the threads. No backing plate is needed.

By your question, I expect that your 78 H33 doesn't have these sections. But I've posted my reply in the off chance you are away from your boat and haven't noticed if model might have them.

A mast plate for the mast base blocks is definitely the best way to go. An alternative is to put a bail at the base of the mast and attach the blocks to it.

I have the raised sections. Two pads and winch pads forward, and pads on aft section of salon roof. Did you mean that drilling thru the raised section would get you to an aluminum plate which can be drilled and tapped and then used for mounting? If so that is great.

Yes

I spoke with Hunter factory and yes they the raised pads do have aluminum plates under the fiberglass and just drill and tape to proper size screws which WM will help with proper tape and die size screws.

I did the same on my H33. I through-bolted all the fittings. You can get plastic plugs to fill the resultant holes in the liner and the final appearance is not obstrusive in any way. On that boat there were no aluminum plates mounted in the laminate.
