I would like to make a cockpit awning. The only problem is I don't have access to my boat. I am currently serving aboard a Canadian Warship in The Persian Gulf. Needless to say I don't get much sailing. Anyway, I am a sailmaker by trade. Not the kind I'd like to be. I make mostly awnings and repair whatever Mother Nature decides needs repairing. What I do have is spare time and some heavyweight dacron. It's not the right weave to make sails but I can make an awning. What I need are the measurements from just forward of the companionway hatch to the end of the boom in the midships position as well as from as far to port and starboard as the boom will go. So it will be an arc to account for the topping lift. Also from the end of the boom to the stern rail and how far the back stay is from the end of the boom. Also the distance across the cockpit from rail to rail. I plan on making it in two parts so I can move the boom off to either side when we are at anchor or in port. Any help in this area would be great. I only have 4 or 5 months left over here so I should get on with it soon. Thank-you in advance and Merry ChristmasGreig CarrollMaster SeamanCanadian Warship 336
