I have a new to me, 86 Catalina 27, and found in in the v berth what I think is a cock pit sunshade, but to be honest, I haven't spent to much time trying to figure it out as of yet. It consists of two stainless steel poles, both about an inch in diameter, one is about 8 feet long, the other about 4 feet long, the ends have plastic inserts that are black in color and have holes as to thread a small diameter string thru. There is also a bundle of tent like fabric. Does any of this sound familiar? How does this hook up? I will attach a picture soon if my desciption is that poor. Thanks in advance, jack

Not a Bimini.

Ken, I will get a picture on line,it'not a bimini. It's some kind of cockpit shade that is used when at anchor or at the dock. but I am not sure how it hooks up. I will also look for some kind of manufacturer ID on the fabric. The picture you sent is a great looking boat,is it yours? If so, your one lucky guy! thanks, Jack

boom tent

sounds more like a boom tent, fabric goes over the boom the two poles on either end holding the tent out ties off on the four corners to the boat.

Thanks Ken, the longer pole must go forward by the mast where the boat is widest and the shorter pole for the aft. I will give it a try this weekend, Thanks again, Jack
