I just got back from Gulf Islands , BC......lost my wallet with all credit cards so trip was short this year.



Any way I was monitoring channel 16 and the Canadian Gaurd was talking to someone in distress and their radio had a low battery...so coast guard asked if they had a cell phone service and they said yes...coast guard said dial *16 and they could communicate with them as if they were on radio channel 16.
