We're closing on a new 306 this week. Having read up on the subject, we plan to close all thru-hull fittings each time we leave the boat. I'm not intending to re-open a discussion on the advisability of this, having read quite a few long ones in the archive. Was just wondering: how much work is this on the 306? I seem to recall that one of the thru-hulls (head intake?) is aft of the engine, near the shaft. I'm hoping the access to this is through the covers over the aft berth, and not only via the rear engine panel. Thanks for your help! Jay

probably the raw water intake

Usually, but not always, the raw water intake is located near the prop shaft. If you are going to close this sea cock, then hang the engine start key on the handle to avoid starting the engine with the sea cock closed and smoking your impeller or worse.

Should be five

My 290 same as your 306 has five, one under the galley sink and three starboard side under the cover and one raw water in the middle behind engine. I always close them when leaving the boat it doesn't take long at all. nick

key

I always close my thru hulls when I leave my boat. The key on the raw water intake is a good ideal.
