Sunday, 4/11 about noon, apparently a small tornado or possible waterspout came through our marina. Took the roofs off the adjacent condo and the hotel at the marina. This was associated with a strong line of storms that came across the GOM that morning. This boat, two slips down from me, took the brunt of it. Luckily, Fraulein, was up wind. No other boats damaged except for a few torn biminis. Lucky for me, I still had mine stowed and wrapped. Soffits and facias from the buildings were wrapped around any thing they hit. Insulation coated every boat. Here's a couple of pics of the damaged boat. The chainplate held but ripped the deck out.

Wow, that pulled the bulkhead right out of the boat. Also looks like the deck and bulkhead were not in the best of shape prior to the storm.

I've been in this marina for five years and have yet to see anyone on it. I think the hotel has claimed it as abandoned.

Scary. A couple of years ago, we were on a mooring and a microburst came by with winds up to 88 mph, but this looks like the wind was more than that.

Looks like the chainplate was not attached to the hull but to a bulkhead.

I would not have thought a bulkhead would pull right out like that, looks like it was well tabbed too. Crazy.

We had a micro burst come through our harbour a few years ago with some damage. A boat on a trailer, another on a cradle were knocked over, one mast broke at the spreaders, a Lazer was tossed about 150 feet into the tennis court fence. My boat had bent stanchions from being pushed under the dock. I friend was below on his boat at the time and said his boat healed about 30 or 40 degrees at the dock. He had bent stanchions as well and the hole dock pod moved about 20 feet. Amazing how much energy there is in that much wind.

Can you get a pic of the dock lines? I guess I’m wondering if this had been at sea when the storm hit, would the boat have only suffered a knockdown? Did the dock lines holding the boat upright contribute? It is very possible the answer is no. I had a twister pass through my yard in 2018... it pulled one full grown fir up by the root ball and a loplolly just vanished. I still don’t know where that landed.

You probably got a summons for littering public property. Check it for a location

That boat was obviously compromised. The storm did the owner a favor.
