while tightening the pedestal noticed water had been leaking so went ahead and resealed around the base of the pedestal.

now that that's sealed the cockpit filled up with water after a rain; obviously clogged scuppers and the water has always drained through the pedestal.

one scupper has the screen so just cleaned that off and it drains. the other which is missing the screen is still clogged. what's the best way to try to unclog it (boat is in the water)

I used a wire fish in the past. It is flexible enough to make it through, strong enough to push and breakup any clogs and most have that built in hook at the end to grab anything that may be stuck.

The home centers are selling a barbed fiberglass rod about 2 feet long for working drains. A toilet plunger will indeed provide a means if it fits over the hole. Often the pressure needed to clear a clog is small and simple finding the right parts to fit the drian so the you can apply some pressure is the hardest part.

I second Higgs. Use water pressure from the hose from the doc and place it where the water drains into the water - not on the deck scupper. Then pl;ace it on the scupper at the deck. It worked for me.

I have one of those... actually they are HDPE but nonetheless they work great for a shower drain plugged with hair (I have a wife and three daughters). I don't know if they would work on a scupper filled with silt or leaves etc.? They are called Zip Strips and they are $2.

I have used weed trimmer lines with good success. It is cheap and flexible enough to make it around corners.
