Climbing Mast on H25

Hey All,

Had a question to see if anyone has climbed a mast on a Hunter 25. I have got a 1978 25 and I'd like to climb it to change out a light bulb, and possibly relocate my VHF antenna.

I'd rather climb it then drop it, as I have climbing gear....Any help / ideas / don't to it comments appreciated...

I've posted this before, but when my buddy and I climbed my H23 mast a couple times, we just use a bosun's chair and both halyards. Hoisting on the winch with the main and then cleat off the jib halyard every couple of feet as a backup. Also, we tied off the halyards to the chair rather than using a shackle, just in case the shackle might break.

When raising someone most preferably in a bosuns chair, do tie off without using the shackel to secure with. In fact I always used the jib halyard as a safety back up. However, there are a couple things to look out for. If the halyard is old, I would be suspicous and use caution. It may need replacing. Also, make sure the the shrouds and all stays are tight.

I attempted to have myself hoisted on my 25.5 in a bosuns chair. I'm 225 lbs after lunch. After 3 fett off the deck, we decided to bring me down. I then used my folding little giant ladder as I was only repairing the steaming light. We safety strapped the main halyyard under my arms and up the ladder I went. It worked really well. The ladder was on top of life cushions to protect the deck surface.
