The wife and I are planning to check out the boat show in Cleveland on the 14th. Anyone else going? Any reviews from previous years? I can't get away to Chicago in February, so this will have to do. JerryA

I never miss it

Not an all sail show like Chicago but a very large show with something for everyone. There will be plenty of Sailboats (primarily production models) brought in from Great Lake Dealers.

We're going

Hi Jerry - Julie and I will be there, not sure which day. I wish there were more sailboats, but it's a good break for the winter blahs. They always have other interesting stuff, like last year the Wooden Boat builders club had an exhibit and a couple presented a travelog of how they took a year down and back on the ICW. I also thought an exhibit of vintage restored Lymans last year was great. Harbor North will bring a big Hunter fleet and Toledo Beach Yachts will be there too (I bought my H23 off their brokerage list and got terrific service on a boat they were just doing a favor for someone by listing it. If you see Sean Taylor, tell him I said hello). Tartan Marine will be there - they are practically from my neighborhood. Anybody notice the days are getting longer?

I've gone before

I went last year and really enjoyed it. They had a decent number of sailboats (not just the super fancy ones)and the overall show is well laid out. Of course, if one is so inclined they can also check out the power boats (to remind themselves why they prefer the much better design of sailboats inside and out). I hope to get there this year, if I can convince my wife and son...

Went Today... Saturday

We saw some real nice boats today at the show. It would have been nicer to see more sailboats, but it was a good pick-me-up. I really liked the Catalina 350. There was also a Hanse 37' that was pretty. The Hunter 25 they had on display didn't show well... the one we saw last year in Chicago was optioned out better. The wife really liked that one, but couldn't believe this one was the same model boat. We saw the water skiing squirrel too. JerryA

Finally got to the show on Sat

I got to the boat show. It was nice to see that they had many more sailboats than the last time I went a couple of years ago. However, I don't know why all the sailboat shows (Chicago too) focus on boats in the over-30' range. They are pretty and all (I loved the Hanse), but they start looking all the same and are SO expensive I can't even dream about getting one. I would like to see more trailer sailors in the 20-28' range. There are some nice boats in this range. I would agree that the Hunter 25 was disappointing in its lack of options.

Hidden 170

David, Was the 170 still hidden around the side, back out of the way, when you were there? The small boats on display by the sailing clubs were fun to check out. I was excited when I first came through the gate seeing the smaller boats. Then that was all of them. I liked the old Lymans that were restored too. JerryA

Tucked away

Yes, I stumbled across the 170, seeing it only from above when I was looking at some of the other Hunters. The 146 had good placement though - of course the 170 is far better looking :).
