Clearing into the Bahamas

In a couple of weeks I'll be crossing over the gulf stream to the Bahamas. I have questions about the process for clearing in - esp to West End.
- when I arrive there, where do I go? West End has a small harbor, and a marina takes up space.
- should I just go to the marina? It's expensive - $3/ft
- does Bahamian imigration come to the boat or do I go to them?
- any idea how long between when I call them on channel 16 and they get to me?

Any other info on the process would be most appreciated.

I bypass West End, expensive. I cross onto the banks just south of memory rock and keep going to Great Sale Cay, even in the dark. There is nothing out there and the charts are accurate. The next day or two I make it to Green Turtle/New Plymouth where I anchor off and dink to the town dock. It's a few blocks to the customs office where they clear me in. No problem.

Alex we were there earlier this year (April) and it was not a problem. We did go into the Marina and it was $1.50/ft. but there was no electricity at the time (hurricane damage). No they will not come to the boat you must go to the office. You have three options. You can anchor out and dinghy in if you like. You can get a slip in the marina or you can also go in and dock in front of the Immigration Office check in and leave if you like. There is a little immigration building right on the premises and you can dock right in front of it.
